Smart4RES is much committed to data privacy, that’s why we welcome the latest European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which came into force on 25 May 2018. This new legislation is giving you greater security, transparency, and control of your personal data online. We treat your personal data as confidential and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy. This privacy policy explains what information we collect and what we use it for. It also explains how and for what purpose this happens. Please note that data transmitted via the internet (e.g. via email communication) may be subject to security breaches. Complete protection of your data from third-party access is not possible.

Who is responsible for the data collection on this website?

The data collected on this website are processed by the website operator as stated in the legal notice.

How do we collect your data?

Some data are collected when you provide it to us, for example the date you enter in our contact or newsletter subscription forms. Other data are collected automatically by our IT systems when you visit the website (statistics).

What do we use your data for?

Part of the data is collected to ensure the proper functioning of the website. Another part is used to build up our community of stakeholders. Other data are used to analyse how visitors use the site. Please see section 2. Data collection on our website for more information.

What rights do you have regarding your data?

In accordance with the law n° 78-17 of January 6, 1978, relating to data processing, files and liberties, you always have the right request information about your stored data, its origin, its recipients, and the purpose of its collection at no charge. You also have the right to rectify and delete it. To exercise this right, you may contact the Editor.

The competent regulatory authority for matters related to data protection legislation is the Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL).

 

SSL or TLS encryption

This site uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and for the protection of the transmission of confidential content, such as the inquiries you send to us as the site operator. You can recognize an encrypted connection in your browser’s address line when it changes from “http://” to “https://” and the lock icon is displayed in your browser’s address bar. If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you transfer to us cannot be read by third parties.

Opposition to promotional emails

We hereby expressly prohibit the use of contact data published in the context of website legal notice requirements with regard to sending promotional and informational materials not expressly requested. The website operator reserves the right to take specific legal action if unsolicited advertising material, such as email spam, is received.

 

Data collection on our website

Contact form

Should you send us a request via our contact form, we will collect the data you provide in the form to answer your request and possible follow-up requests in the best manner. If your request concerns a Smart4RES consortium member in particular, DOWEL Management will share the necessary information with this member in order to answer your request in the best manner.
We will retain the data you provide in the contact form until you request its deletion, revoke your consent for its storage, or the purpose for its storage no longer pertains (e.g. after fulfilling your request or after the official end of the Smart4RES project). Any mandatory statutory provisions, especially those regarding mandatory data retention periods, remain unaffected by this provision. You may request data deletion or revoke your consent to data storage at any time with future effect. An informal e-mail to us making this request is sufficient. The data processed before we receive your request may still be legally processed.

Subscription to our newsletter

You can register to our Newsletter via the subscription form and receive project information. We only use the data you enter into this form to send the requested information and do not pass it on to third parties.

We will retain the data you provide in the subscription form until you request its deletion, revoke your consent for its storage, or the purpose for its storage no longer pertains (e.g. after you cancelled your subscription or after the official end of the Smart4RES project). Any mandatory statutory provisions, especially those regarding mandatory data retention periods, remain unaffected by this provision. You may unsubscribe to our newsletter, request data deletion or revoke your consent to data storage at any time with future effect. An informal e-mail to us making this request is sufficient. The data processed before we receive your request may still be legally processed.

The data provided when registering for the newsletter will be used to distribute the newsletter until you cancel your subscription when said data will be deleted.

 

Other sources

From time to time we may obtain information about you from third-party sources, such as social media platforms (Twitter, and LinkedIn) or project partners consortium that you are meeting with and exchange business cards.

We take steps to ensure that such third parties are legally permitted or required to disclose such information to us.

Examples of the information we may receive from other sources include name, e-mail address, demographic information, device information (such as IP addresses) and location.

We use this information, alone or in combination with other information (including Personal Information) we collect, to enhance our ability to provide relevant marketing and content to you and to develop and provide you with more relevant solutions and services.
